Being a member of the unit Drill Team or Color Guard is a prestigious honor as a cadet. These cadets are held to high uniform and character standards. They represent the top 10% of the corps. This is an AFJROTC extra-curricular activity that does require some after school practices. Cadets that try-out and are selected to be members of this team must meet high mental, physical and moral qualifications. They must have a tremendous work ethic and a will to be the best!

The Drill Team competes in six events each year. Cadets execute drill routines in the following categories: armed regulation, unarmed regulation, new cadet, color guard, and military inspection. Cadets on the drill team must attend at least 75% of the practices and participate in at least five drill meets to qualify for their drill team ribbon.

The Drill Team practices are every Monday and Thursday from 2:30-3:30 pm. These practices are mandatory for members of the team.

The Color Guard presents the colors at various community events each year. Members of the team have had the opportunity to present the colors in many nationally televised events such as: Kansas City Chiefs, Kansas City Royals, Sporting KC Soccer, and NASCAR races at the Kansas Speedway. Cadets on the color guard must attend at least 75% of the practices and participate in at least 4 color guard events to qualify for the color guard ribbon.

The Color Guard practices are every Tuesday from 2:30-3:30PM. These practices are mandatory for members of the team.

Bus transportation home is available for any cadet on these teams that currently ride the bus to school. Cadets will be given bus passes for the 3:30 late bus, and those cadets who do not ride the bus will need to arrange other transportation from a parent or guardian.  If you have any questions or are interested in joining these teams please see Master Sergeant DeLacy to sign up.
